SCIENTIFIC RATIONALE
The ESSKA-EKA focus meeting has been planned for October 3rd – 4th 2025 in Brixen, Italy.
This meeting will be an OPEN meeting dedicated to orthopedic surgeons (specialized and in training). The predicted audience will be European surgeons (50%) and Italian surgeons (50%).
The main topic of this meeting will be the application of “Enabling Technologies” in knee surgery (sports medicine and arthroplasty procedures), including total knee arthroplasty (TKA) preventive strategies.
Particular attention will be paid to the following topics:
- Conservative treatment of the knee degenerative diseases: osteoporosis, hyaluronic acid applications, and FKT.
- High Tibial Osteotomies (HTO) around the knee.
- Primary TKA has different modalities: traditional, navigation, robotics, and augmented reality.
- Revision TKA has different causes and alternative treatments: instability, loosening (aseptic and septic), and stiffness.
- Periprosthetic Joint Infections (PJI): prevention, diagnostics (standard and molecular diagnostics), and treatment (DAIR/DAPRI, one-stage, 1.5-stage, two-stage).
- Rehabilitation in TKA: from bracing to gait analysis.
